Ceramic Coatings

A commercial-grade ceramic coating is essentially a thin glass shell applied to your vehicle’s clear coat. SiO2 or silicon dioxide is the “active ingredient” in a ceramic coating, and it is kept in a liquid state prior to application with the help of a carrier solution/solvent.

When the coating is applied to the painted surface of an automobile it is done so with a very soft applicator pad. The coating is then allowed to “flash” (start to dry) before it is leveled, and the excess removed. As the carrier solution, or solvent, evaporates the SiO2 is left to harden, forming a covalent bond with the surface of the clear coat. This hard glass shell will now be the surface of your vehicle and will last for several years.

The main benefits of a ceramic coating are its ability to prevent environmental damage and its longevity. Keeping your clear coat protected constantly is a big part of keeping your vehicle's paint looking new for many years. Automobile clear coats are thinner than a post-it note and are susceptible to damage from prolonged UV exposure, etching from bug guts, and etching from bird droppings. Even tree sap can leave a mark on the surface of your car if allowed to sit. These marks and etchings can usually be buffed out but every time you buff your clear coat, you're removing some of it.

Additional benefits include an increase in gloss and the "non-stick" property of a ceramic coating. Your automobile will stay clean longer and be easier to clean when you wash it.

XPEL’s PPF (paint protection film), also known as a clear bra (or clearbra) is constructed from a combination of advanced elastomeric polymers, ULTIMATE PLUS’ special clear coat not only prevents the film from discoloring due to contamination and ultra-violet radiation but also heals itself from swirl marks and light scratches that can occur through ordinary washing and drying or daily driving.

Contaminants like bug splatter, bird droppings, sap, and road tar wipe off XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS’ slick surface relatively easy with a cloth, while scuffs and light scratches in the surface of the film disappear within minutes in the heat of the sun or the warmth of your garage—leaving your car pristine and the protective film like new.

This level of protection comes without compromise.

The mirror smooth finish of XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS ensures that no unwanted texture, commonly referred to as “orange-peel,” is added to the appearance of your car, leaving the protected surface indistinguishable from the factory paint.

Our professional installation ensures exact alignment around surface features such as air inlets, parking sensors, headlamp washers, and other design elements, while the paint protection film along the perimeter of each panel is wrapped around most edges for a truly invisible barrier against the hazards awaiting you on the road.

Our decades of experience with PPF allow us to contour the film around the most complex surfaces without distortion—which means you show off a perfect finish, not seams, wrinkles, and ripples.

XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS comes with a full 10-year warranty against yellowing, discoloration, peeling, cracking and hazing.
